Manager, author, researcher and elected official, Dr. Gardiner is the President and Chief Executive Officer of SCSI and a member of the SCSI Board of Directors. He was formerly an Associate Professor at the Institute of Safety and Systems Management at the University of Southern California for 27 years. His areas of expertise are Systems Science, Management, Decision making and Policy Analysis, Planning and Control, and Information Technology (Decision Support Systems for Management, Telecommunications Management and Information Security.) He has published over 50 articles, papers, and chapters in books dealing with systems analysis, cost-benefit analysis, decision making, and Quantitative Operational Risk Management. Gardiner currently serves on the City Council of Rancho Palos Verdes—a city of 42,000 residents—and recently served as Mayor of Rancho Palos Verdes. Gardiner was a founding member of the National Council on Systems Engineering, and a member of the System Dynamics Society, Society of Logistics Engineers, and the Institute of Management Science.
